The LAPTOP meme coin project, which Hunter Biden, the son of former U.S. President Joe Biden, is preparing to launch, has warned users to be cautious of fake tokens and malicious links.
The LAPTOP project team said it does not contact users first or ask for private keys, seed phrases, or personal information. It urged users to verify related information only through the project’s official channels.
The warning came after tokens using the same name appeared one after another on multiple meme coin blockchains following the official announcement of the LAPTOP launch.
According to BlockBeats, most of these identically named tokens saw their prices surge shortly after appearing before plunging again.
