Canton Strategic Completes First Tokenized U.S. Stock Trade Under SEC Innovation Exemption

Nasdaq-listed Canton Strategic Holdings has completed the first tokenized trade of its common stock under the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) innovation exemption framework.

The trade took place on Nov. 4 on TSV, a tokenized securities trading platform built on the Canton Network. Existing shareholder Five North tokenized and sold its shares, with DRW Cumberland participating as the buyer and Flowdesk as the liquidity provider.

The trade was executed through Tradecraft’s permissioned automated market maker (AMM) pool and settled through the simultaneous transfer of the shares and the payment.

SEC-registered transfer agent Fairmint manages the official on-chain ownership records for the tokenized shares and the list of approved holders and wallets. Token holders have the same shareholder rights as the existing CNTN common shares traded on Nasdaq.

This was the first issuer-sponsored trade of tokenized U.S.-listed stock conducted under the innovation exemption framework announced by the SEC on Sept. 17.
