Hunter Biden, son of former U.S. President Joe Biden, has personally disclosed the purpose behind the launch of the LAPTOP meme coin and its token allocation plan.
In a post on X, Hunter Biden said he intends to turn the laptop used to attack him into a symbol of recovery and resurgence, stating, “If they weaponized the laptop, I turned it into a token.”
LAPTOP has a total supply of 1 billion tokens, 20% of which will be airdropped to the community in two rounds. Some wallets that incurred losses from investing in Donald Trump’s TRUMP token are also included among the recipients.
Thirty percent of the total supply is linked to predefined real-world conditions. If those conditions are met, the related tokens will be permanently burned; if they are not met, the tokens will be donated to charities. Separately, 50 million LAPTOP—5% of the total supply—has been allocated for charitable purposes.
Hunter Biden said people should not expect him or anyone else to drive up the token’s price. LAPTOP will launch on the Base network on September 9.
