Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, said the company is participating in the expansion of the dollar network through USDT and U.S. Treasuries while buying Bitcoin and gold to hedge against the risk of fiat currency depreciation.
In an interview with The Wolf Of All Streets published on August 31, Ardoino explained that Tether is investing funds generated through its operations in Bitcoin and gold, among other assets. He described Bitcoin as “the mother of all digital assets” and viewed it as a hedge against inflation.
He said that most of the world’s key decision-makers are over 60 and that Bitcoin has not yet achieved the long-established recognition and understanding that gold has. As a result, he explained, older decision-makers prefer gold as a key asset for preparing for financial crises and central banks are also increasing their gold holdings.
Ardoino added that Bitcoin is better understood by younger generations and that generational change, along with improvements in education and infrastructure, is needed for it to gain broader acceptance.
